Startup Weekend is a Techstars global event, where individuals connect with like-minded people, discover a new journey of entrepreneurship, learn new skills by being hands-on, and most importantly start a new endeavour that projects individuals in the right direction, fast. Startup Weekend is the ultimate entrepreneurial experience to explore, test, and validate ideas in an environment designed for individuals to learn as much as possible in just 54 hours.
As a part of Nomad Studio's dedication to community-driven incentives and love for upcoming businesses, we designed the brand identity for Startup Weekend Wellington. While aligning with the Startup Weekend set brand elements, set by Techstars, we were able to build on this while still adding a true Wellington spark. With key brand definers of connection, discovery, learning, safety, growth, and of course regional Wellington, we explored the Wellington's signature land icons to incorporate into this logo mark. Wellington's Beehive and Wellington's iconic Cuba Street fountain, strategically placed amongst and around the Startup Weekend beaker, represent safety within the StartupWeekend environment in the growth of ideas and potential in the Wellington region. The integration of water, Wellington's harbour, and wind bring portray the continuous evermore connection of elements between people, ambitions, and all that we are influenced by, These ideas are then further supported by Wellington'skey colour identifier, yellow, as the main colour, supported by dark charcoal and white to stand out across all branding and collateral.
The result is a mix of executions from signage, t-shirts and branded materials such as reusable cups and bottles, swell as printed media. It is inviting, and authentic to Startup Weekend, whilst also showcasing elements of Wellington and its offering.
